Biosecurity Training for Disaster Preparedness & Skill Development of Microbiology Lab Professionals

Project Activity List

In the second month of the project, an online kick-off meeting will be organized under the coordination and facilitation of the Turkish Microbiology Society (TMC). All project partners will participate in this meeting. Within the scope of this work package:

  • The coordinator will lead the preparation of a communication strategy plan that clearly defines the roles, tasks, and responsibilities of each project partner.
  • The applicant organization will prepare essential documents such as invitation letters, attendance sheets, meeting agendas, and reporting templates.
  • The applicant organization, in its capacity as project coordinator, commits to ensuring continuous monitoring and oversight activities throughout the project.

Kick-Off Meeting Results:

The project's kick-off meeting was held online on January 22-23, 2025, hosted by the Turkish Microbiology Society (TMC). The meeting began with opening speeches by the host institution and presentations by all project partners introducing their organizations. Subsequently, the project objectives, significance, and expected outputs were shared in detail; the project management structure, roles and responsibilities of each partner were explained; and project management protocols along with administrative and financial procedures were discussed. Finally, the distribution of project activities according to the timeline and work packages were reviewed, and the meeting concluded with the partners' wishes for success.

Within the scope of International Project Meetings (TPM) and Learning-Teaching-Training Activities (LTTA), this event is designed to provide participants with in-depth practical experience of the core technical aspects of laboratory biosafety applications.

Participants will:

  • Examine current laboratory biosafety practices and best practices,
  • Exchange innovative ideas among partners,
  • Gain knowledge about the Spanish healthcare system and laboratory practices,
  • Learn about innovative laboratory approaches, new health profession roles, and care models,
  • Explore effective communication, collaboration, and patient-centered care strategies in interdisciplinary teams,
  • Raise awareness about cultural sensitivity and competence,
  • Become familiar with current health regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices.

These activities provide multifaceted, hands-on learning in the field of biosafety and healthcare.

This activity is a key component aimed at enhancing the production of educational materials. Within this scope, comprehensive preparation is planned to equip the target group — healthcare professionals — with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to succeed in their roles through the integration of innovative technologies. The training program and modules aim to reach a higher level by focusing on innovation integration, required professional skill modules, legal compliance, and continuous learning elements.

The International Project Meeting (TPM) in Portugal is designed to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the training program delivered within the project. This evaluation aims to collect feedback, measure learning outcomes, and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that the training fully aligns with the project objectives.

All partner organizations will present the outputs of the training content they have implemented. These presentations will include a summary of the content, learning objectives, and interactive elements. Participants (microbiology healthcare professionals and project stakeholders) will share feedback on the training modules, discussing strengths, areas needing development, and specific challenges encountered during the training.

A structured learning outcomes assessment will be conducted to measure the knowledge and skills acquired by participants through the training. Partners will review the integration of innovative technologies in the training and discuss the effectiveness of digital tools and their impact on learning.

The collected feedback will be consolidated, analyzed, and categorized according to common themes and improvement recommendations. This event will ensure the continuous improvement of the training program and the strengthening of healthcare professionals' competencies.

Within the scope of this activity, partners will come together to evaluate the project's achievements, challenges encountered, and overall impact. All project processes will be reviewed, the degree of achievement of the objectives and goals will be assessed, and a comprehensive presentation of the successes and outputs will be made. The effectiveness of the educational materials will be shared, along with detailed presentations of specific outputs such as innovative teaching methods. Ways to ensure the sustainability of the project's impact will be discussed (integration of outputs into regular training, planning of future collaborations), and potential new project collaborations in the future will be explored.
